Echo’s Run Farm
Meet the Family!
Echo’s Run Farm really started with a garden, a few animals, and the simple idea of raising more of our own food.
As John and Sarah began expanding their garden, they decided to add a few farm animals for themselves. It didn’t take long before they realized just how much they loved it—and from there, things just kept growing. The garden beds got bigger and better, cross fencing went up for sheep and cows, and trips to the post office to pick up boxes of chicks became a regular occurrence.
The more we shared what we were doing with friends and family, the more the idea of turning our little homestead into something we could share with others began to take shape. We started selling extra eggs and vegetables, and before we knew it, the ball was rolling.
We were fortunate to acquire a wonderful flock of Katahdin sheep, and from there we continued adding livestock, expanding our gardens, and learning along the way. A few years later, that little idea has grown into what we now proudly call Echo’s Run Farm.
Our goal is pretty simple: to make good, locally raised food more accessible to the families around us. Raising happy, healthy animals is incredibly important to us, and we take pride in knowing how our animals are cared for and where our food comes from.
This is something we’ve always wanted to do. We love being outdoors, working with the animals, tending the gardens, and watching the whole process come together from beginning to end. There is something incredibly fulfilling about growing and raising food with your own hands—and then being able to put it on your own table or share it with someone else.
Farm life certainly isn’t always easy. There are long days, plenty of hard work, and usually a few unexpected problems along the way. But at the end of the day, seeing someone excited to take home something we’ve raised or grown makes it all worthwhile.
For us, Echo’s Run Farm is about more than producing food. It’s about knowing where your food comes from, caring for the land and animals entrusted to us, and sharing a little piece of what we love with our community.
John and Sarah- We do occasionally leave the farm……but look for us in farm clothes 99% of the time
Meet Our Animals
We certainly could not complete all the work on the farm without some help!
Meet 3 of our elite employees!
Echo
Meet Echo! He is the pup behind Echo’s Run Farm. Echo is an almost one year old purebred Border Collie. He is FAST and smart and loves his job helping us with the sheep. You can always find him with John around the farm or in his truck.
Berkely
Meet Berkely! Berkely is our resident blue heeler. He is almost one, and he loves the water trough and running. He is never ever tired and is always up for helping move the cows around. Berekly spends his time with Sydney helping her with hay deliveries and living his best life.
JackDaw
Meet JackDaw! JackDaw is a 6 year old retired foxhound. He loves sleeping on the couch and eating treats. He is super helpful in the barn and loves our free range chickens. JackDaw is never really in a hurry and loves eating the blueberries off the bushes.
Meet the Livestock
Black Angus Cows
We chose Black Angus Cows for raising quality beef. They’re hardy, adaptable, pretty easy going for the most part, and do really well on pasture. They’re also known for producing tender, flavorful, well-marbled beef. Their calm nature, strong mothering ability, and efficient growth make them a great fit for a small, pasture-based farm like ours.
Katahdin Sheep
We love raising Katahdin sheep because they’re hardy, low-maintenance, and perfect for pasture-based farming. As hair sheep, they naturally shed—no shearing needed! They’re wonderful mothers, thrive on pasture, and are known for their natural parasite resistance. Best of all, they produce delicious, mild-flavored lamb while fitting perfectly into our goal of raising happy, healthy animals as naturally as possible. They are also very friendly!
We love raising Freedom Ranger chickens because they’re happy, active little foragers that truly enjoy being outside! They grow at a slower, more natural pace, spending their days exploring the pasture, soaking up the sunshine, and doing what chickens do best. The result is healthy, well-raised birds and delicious, flavorful chicken we feel good about putting on our family’s table—and yours.
